The Island of Rab is situated in the Kvarner group of islands between 44o51' and 44o51' of Northern geographical width and 14o40' and 14o53' of Eastern geographical length. The area of the Town of Rab comprises 102,85 km2 of the whole island (2,86% of the entire surface of the Primorsko-goranska County) and 424,52km2 in the aquatorium of the Kvarner Bay. The Island of Rab spreads in the NW-SE direction and it is 22 km long from Cape Sorinj in the North-West to Cape Glavina in the South-Eeast. Its biggest width is 11km. The Velebit Canal separates the island from the mainland. The island gets closest to the mainland, app. 1800m, on its South-Eastern end. It is separated from the island of Pag in the South-East by the "Paško tijesno" Canal, to the West towards the islands of Cres and Lošinj there is Kvarnerić, and "Senjska Vrata" separate it from the island of Krk in the North-West.
You can reach the Island of Rab by car and ferry or boat. In both cases, connections are excellent thanks to a regular timetable of ferries connecting the Island of Rab and the mainland as well as thanks to a catamaran transporting passengers from Rijeka on a daily base.
